The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, leave to undertake a medical trip overseas.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted Mr Babalele’s request on Friday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges that Babalele laundered over $140,000 in the build-up to the 2019 elections.
He was first arraigned on August 14, 2019, before Justice Nicholas Oweibo.
His case was brought up on Tuesday following transfer to Justice Aneke.
Babalele denied all the charges and was granted to continue on the N20 million bail granted him by Justice Oweibo with one surety.
After his re-arraignment on Tuesday, Babalele applied to the court for the release of his passport to enable him to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Ruling on Friday, Justice Aneke granted the temporary release of the defendant’s passport to enable him travel for medical treatment.
Aneke said the defendant had shown that “he has health issues with the evidence before the court.”

The judge, however, directed the defendant to return the passport to the court’s registrar on November 11, 2019.
The case was adjourned till November 11, 12 and 13 for commencement of trial.
