Burna Boy declared wanted over robbery attack on Mr 2kay

The Lagos State Police Command has declared popular artiste, Damini Ogiulu, aka Burna Boy, wanted for allegedly masterminding the robbery and assault of fellow artiste, Abiye David Jumbo, aka Mr 2Kay.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, made the announcement at a press briefing in Ikeja on Monday, saying ‘Yawa Dey’ singer has been evading interrogation.

“Four armed robbers carried out the attack and detectives were able to arrest one of their girlfriends identified as ‘Matejero’. This led to the capture of the others,” Edgal said.

“During interrogation, the robbers confessed that they were hired by Burna Boy through his manager, Joel Kantiock, who was arrested in Zaria, Kaduna State

“They confessed to receiving a part payment of N50,000 before the job and another N50,000 was paid to the robbers directly by Burna Boy when the job was done.

”At the moment, efforts to apprehend Burna Boy is proving futile but we count on him to make himself available for questioning immediately.”

Mr. 2kay was attacked on October 22 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos during 2face’s ‘Buckwyld N Breathless’ concert.

The victim had lodged in room 847 when he was robbed by four heavily armed men who were said to have gained entry after claiming they were room service sent up from the hotel reception to clean the room.

Mr 2kay claimed the robbers stole his Audemais Piquet gold wristwatch valued at N9million, gold jewellery valued at N1.5million, iPhone7 valued at N380,000, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S5 phones valued at N240,000 and N110,000 respectively, Addidas shoe valued at N75,000, three perfumes valued at N180,000 and N45,000 in cash.

The ‘Count It All Joy’ singer filed a 500million naira lawsuit against Eko Hotel two weeks after the robbery.
