Bose Ogulu, mother and manager of Afrobeats star Burna Boy, has expressed pride in her son following his performance at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Videos circulating on social media showed Bose celebrating the singer shortly after the event. In one of the clips, Burna Boy was seated in a car when his mother approached him, praising his performance and hailing him as “the highest of them all.”
The video has drawn reactions from fans, many of whom praised the close relationship between the singer and his mother.
Burna Boy performed alongside Colombian singer Shakira at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony held at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Thursday. The pair performed “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The performance marked another major international stage for the Grammy winner, who has continued to expand his global presence through music and live performances.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has become one of Africa’s most recognised music stars, earning international acclaim with hit songs such as ‘Last Last,’ ‘Ye’ and ‘City Boys.’
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada, making it the first edition of the tournament to be staged across three countries.
