Filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters has spoken on the impact of the creative industry after receiving the Excellence in Cultural Innovation and Global Creative Industry Trailblazer Award from the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC).

QEDng had earlier reported that the chamber said the honour recognises her work in promoting Nigerian creativity, supporting Africa’s cultural influence, and expanding the reach of African stories through theatre, film and other creative projects.

She shared a video of the award presentation on her Instagram page on Friday.

In the post, she wrote, “Absolute honor to receive the “Global Creative Industry Trailblazer award” from The Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce and the Nigerian Immigration Service. The work we do has impact on many sectors in Nigeria and creating more jobs here and skills for our youth reduces immigration issues and their work impacts on creatives coming into Nigeria for our films and theatre festivals. Thanks to the entire staff and management of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce and the Nigerian Immigration Service.”

The award was presented in collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service.

Bolanle is the founder of Terra Kulture, a Lagos based cultural centre that focuses on promoting Nigerian arts, language, theatre and film.

She is known for producing and directing works such as Bling Lagosians, Man of God and Collision Course. Her projects often highlight themes around society, culture, faith and identity.

Over the years, her productions have gained international attention, with screenings at film festivals and stage performances outside Nigeria.
