Filmmaker and media executive Ego Boyo has been announced as a juror for the fifth edition of the African Film Festival Atlanta 2026.
The announcement was made on the festival’s official Instagram page on Friday, where it also shared her photo and highlighted her career and contributions to film and advocacy.

“An icon on screen and a force behind it. @officialegoboyo is a celebrated Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and advocate whose work spans decades of cultural impact. From her unforgettable role in Checkmate, she has gone on to produce critically acclaimed films while leading Temple Productions and empowering women through advocacy @tempio_mai_foundation
“At the African Film Festival Atlanta 2026, Ego joins the jury with a commitment to celebrating powerful stories and elevating voices that inspire change.”
Other jurors announced for this year’s edition include South African cinematographer Kabelo Thathe, writer and producer Darah Denise, and Kenyan executive producer Njoki Muhoho.
Ego Boyo is known for her work in Nigerian film and television, particularly her role in the television drama Checkmate, which brought her wider recognition. She has since focused on film production and advocacy through Temple Productions and her foundation.
The African Film Festival Atlanta is an annual event held in Atlanta, United States, that showcases films from Africa and the African diaspora. It features screenings, panel discussions and networking sessions for filmmakers and industry professionals.
The 2026 edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from March 26 to March 30, in Atlanta.
The African Film Festival Atlanta (AFFATL) was founded in 2020 by filmmaker and cultural curator Mojisola Sonoiki through the African Film and Arts Foundation Inc., a nonprofit media arts organisation based in Atlanta.
