Ayra Starr speaks on inspiration behind Bloody Samaritan

Singer Ayra Starr has replied to a fan who wanted to know the inspiration behind her hit song ‘Bloody Smaritan’.

A Twitter user who goes by the name Man of Letters on Sunday asked the music star the inspiration behind ‘Bloody Samaritan’.

“Please what’s the inspiration behind that Bloody Samaritan song? No Nigerian(modern) song has been sung that way before,” he wrote.

Responding to the tweet, Arya wrote: “I just did what needed to be done.”

Since the release of the single, the 19-year-old has attained global success and has been nominated for several international awards including MOBO Awards and MTV Awards.

‘Bloody Samaritan’ received positive reception for its message and production. It peaked atop Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50, making Ayra Starr the first female artist in the history of the chart to reach number one with a solo song.

Outside Nigeria, it peaked at number 15 on the Afrobeats Singles Chart in the UK.

Ayra is signed to Don Jazzy’s record label Marvin Records.
