Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has led the list of high-profile persons mourning the late Senator Buruji Kashamu.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of late Senator Buruji Kashamu. May the Almighty Allah accept his soul, forgive his shortcomings and heal the loved ones he left behind,” Atiku tweeted on Saturday.

Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode said on Instagram that Kashamu would be missed.

“Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and brother Senator Buruji Kashamu as a result of Covid 19,” he wrote.

“May the Lord honor and reward him with a place in heaven & may He forgive him of all his sins. RIP my old friend. You fought a good fight & we shall miss you.”

Former Ogun State governor Gbenga Daniel in his message on Twitter quoted John Donne who once said: “Any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind…”

Senator Ademola Adeleke described in a tweet the death of Kashamu as “shocking” and “painful”.

Kashamu represented Ogun-East senatorial district between 2015 and 2019.

He was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election in Ogun State.
