Asake’s M$NEY sets new Spotify Nigeria record

Asake

Singer Asake has set a new streaming milestone with his latest album titled M$NEY, which has recorded the biggest opening week debut on Spotify in Nigeria, according to platform data being reported.

The album has gathered 37.5 million streams within six days of tracking. This places it ahead of Wizkid’s Morayo, which previously held the record with 35.8 million streams in its opening week in Nigeria.

With one day still left in the tracking window, M$NEY has already surpassed the earlier benchmark, making the achievement stand out in Nigeria’s streaming history on Spotify. The development also reflects the continued growth of streaming numbers in the country, where Afrobeats projects have increasingly driven large first week performances.

Wizkid’s Morayo, released in 2024 as a tribute project, had been widely noted for its strong commercial performance on streaming platforms, further reinforcing his long standing presence as one of Nigeria’s leading music exports.

Asake, who rose to mainstream prominence under YBNL Nation and has built a consistent run of charting projects, now adds another commercial milestone with M$NEY.
