Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has said his disagreement with Wizkid will not be resolved, describing it as permanent.
In an interview with Selah Meditate, Seun said the clash stems from what he considers disrespect towards his father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
According to him, “My rift with Wizkid is for life. You don’t talk bad about my father and think we can be cool.”
He added that his position is not driven by personal rivalry but by his duty to protect Fela’s legacy.
The singer insisted that he has no interest in making peace over the issue, maintaining that respect for his father is non-negotiable.
The dispute between both artistes became public earlier in 2026 after Seun criticised comparisons between Wizkid and Fela, arguing that such claims diminish the late icon’s legacy.
Seun repeatedly stated that Fela’s impact goes beyond music, pointing to his activism, political resistance and cultural influence as reasons he should not be compared to modern artistes.
Wizkid responded with a series of posts on social media, some of which included insults directed at Seun and references to his father, escalating tensions between both camps.
The exchange sparked reactions online, with fans divided over the issue. While some defended Wizkid’s global success, others backed Seun’s stance on preserving Fela’s legacy.
