Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to plead with Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote to buy the club.

Dangote has spoken on numerous occasions about his desire to buy out the Gunners’ American owner Stan Kroenke at the Emirates Stadium.

“It is a team that yes I would like to buy some day, but what I keep saying is we have $20billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on. I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can,” he had said.

Calls for a Dangote takeover have been heightened by the unpopular push by Kroenke to have the club partake in the controversial breakaway European Super League.

There has long been frustration with the way Kroenke runs the club.

This is mainly down to a lack of investment in the first-team squad coupled with poor returns on the pitch in comparison to many of the Premier League rivals in recent years.

Many Arsenal fans have now called for Kroenke’s resignation following the reported collapse of the Super League.

Their cause have been aided by news that Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has handed in his resignation after an unsuccessful push for the breakaway competition.
