Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has been named in the 2026 list of the world’s most influential people published by TIME Magazine.
The list was released on April 15 and includes figures in politics, business, technology and culture.
Mr Dangote appears in the “Titans” category and is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list.
This is his second appearance on the TIME100 list after he was first named in 2014.
TIME said Dangote was recognised for his role in building industries in Africa through investments in cement, fertiliser, agriculture, energy and infrastructure.
The publication also noted his focus on using local resources to support production.
Dangote is the founder and president of the Dangote Group.
His companies operate across several sectors, including cement production, fertiliser, sugar and petroleum refining.
His investments have contributed to production and employment in these sectors.
The publication also mentioned his work through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which supports programmes in healthcare, education and economic support.
Other people on the 2026 list include US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Pope Leo XIV,
The list also features technology executives such as Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan, as well as figures in entertainment including Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson.
TIME publishes the TIME100 list every year to recognise individuals whose work influences different areas of public life.
