Akeredolu, Saraki eulogise late Olowo at special court session

Olowo-of-Owo

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Friday described late Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, who was the Olowo of Owo, as a true patriot.

Akeredolu said this at a special court session held at the State High Court, Akure, in honour of the late monarch.

Oba Olateru-Olagbegi died on April 17 at the age of 77.

Akeredolu told the people not to mourn but celebrate the life of the Oba.

“As the Chairman of Council of Obas, he promoted peace throughout the state and stood for truth and justice throughout his tenure, while successive governments in the state, including the present administration, benefited a lot from his wealth of experience and knowledge,” he said.

Senate President Bukola Saraki said the monarch brought stability and peace to Owo town.

“It is indeed a great loss to us. This is the time we will miss him the most. He was the first traditional ruler to show support and solidarity with words of encouragement, when I became the senate president.

“His impact in the life of many people in education and law was monumental. He left a great legacy and would be remembered all over the country. May God continue to bless his family,” he said.

Present at the event was Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammed, represented by Justice Amina Augie of Supreme Court; National Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eddy Olafeso, among others.
