‌Governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party in Ondo State Agboola Ajayi has picked a former commissioner for works Gboye Adegbenro as his running mate ahead of the October 10 governorship election.

Mr Ajayi is the deputy governor of the state but has since fallen out with the governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Mr Adegbenro, an engineer, was a commissioner during the administration of Olusegun Mimiko who is a chieftain of ZLP.

State chairman of ZLP Joseph Akinlaja confirmed the news on Sunday.

“Yes we have picked a running mate his name is Gboye Adegbenro. He will be announced tomorrow (Monday),” he said.

Adegbenro’s name is believed to have been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of Tuesday deadline.

Ajayi had only formally joined the ZLP last Friday in Akure.

He moved to the party after failing to get the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party.
