Adeleke’s death: Protesting youths attack journalists

Protest broke out following the announcement of the demise of Senator representing Osun West at the Senate, Isiaka Adeleke, on Sunday.

While expressing their grievance to the news, angry protesters attacked a journalist working for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Tope Alabi, and his cameraman

The incident occurred as the NTA crew moved to the residence of the late politician in the Ede area of Osun State.

However, one of the protesting youth used a motorcycle to rescue Alabi while the cameraman ran inside one of the houses nearby as he was being chased by the youths with cudgel and sticks

Punch reported that the youths believed that the 62-year-old deceased was spiritually attacked while others claimed he was poisoned in order to pave way for another All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant to win the next year governorship election.

The two-term senator and former governor of Osun was planning to contest the state’s 2018 gubernatorial election before his death.
