Governor Ademola Adeleke and other officials fell on Wednesday after a stage collapsed during a rally in Ijebu-Jesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.
The incident occurred at an event held for the inauguration of canvassers for the governor’s re-election campaign. Party leaders, supporters and government officials were in attendance.
Governor Adeleke arrived with his entourage and was received by the spokesperson of the campaign council Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The stage became crowded with appointees and security operatives. During the programme, the governor stood to acknowledge supporters and others on the stage also moved at the same time.
The movement affected the balance of the structure, which later gave way and collapsed.
Adeleke, his sister Modupe Adeleke-Sanni, Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye and other officials fell during the incident.
Security operatives assisted in moving the governor away from the scene.
The programme was brought to an early end after the incident.
