Zamfara gov Abdulaziz Yari

Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, and some members of G8 Group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have moved to resolve the crisis among the state’s party members.

Zamfara APC spokesman, Shehu Isah, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the G8 Group includes Senator Kabir Marafa, Dauda Lawal, Ibrahim Wakala, Mahmud Shinkafi, and Aminu Sani-Jaji among others.

Mr Isah said Sani-Jaji met Yari at his residence in Abuja on Tuesday in that regard.

He added that Yari and Jaji reviewed the crisis that the party faced during the 2019 general elections in the state and resolved to address it.

The Supreme Court nullified the primary elections that produced all APC candidates in Zamfara and ruled that the first runner-up in all polls be declared winner.

“Both Yari and Jaji now agreed to resolve the differences and keep everything other matters aside to move ahead in the interest of the party in the state,” Isah said.

The state’s APC chairman, Lawal Liman, described the move as a good development.

“This is good step for the party’s victory in the future elections in the state, we are currently consulting with other members of the G8 Group; very soon more of them are coming to join us to move the party ahead,” he said.

Liman called on other party stakeholders in the state to reunite for the progress of the party in the state.

He thanked members of the party in the state for their resilience, urging them to remain calm and continue to work for the party’s progress.
