Wizkid ‘disappointed’ at celebrities throwing banters over xenophobia

Pop musician, Wizkid, has expressed disappointment at celebrities throwing banters at each other over renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The singer was reacting to clashes on social media among celebrities in the face of xenophobia.

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, was caught up in a row on Tuesday with Twitter users after making a veiled comment blaming Nigerians for the way they are treated.

This came after celebrities such as Olamide, Yemi Alade, Adesua Etomi, and Funke Akindele strongly condemned the attacks.

South African rapper, AKA, was also involved in clashes with Nigerian celebrities after a face-off with rapper, Ycee, over seemingly offensive comments made regarding the attacks.

Wizkid, who had on Tuesday called for oneness among Africans, said on Wednesday that he was disappointed at the way celebrities were picking fights in the midst of killings.

“I’ve seen so many insensitive and dumb stupid comments from You celebrities and I’m so disappointed! This is not a time to fight or point fingers!! Let love lead. Use your head! ❤️ People are dying for real! Watch what you say!” the 29-year-old said.

Since reports of the attacks in South Africa broke, Nigerians have stormed the premises of several businesses of South African origin such as Shoprite and MTN in Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja among others.
