Wizkid announces N100m Christmas giveaway in honour of late mum

Grammy Award winner Ayodeji Balogun, aka Wizkid, has announced that he will be giving out 100 million naira this Christmas in honour of his mum Juliana Morayo Balogun.

The ‘Essence’ singer made this known in a post via Instagram on Monday where he promised to distribute the funds to children

The distribution is scheduled to kick off on the night of December 11 in Surulere, Lagos.

“100M for the kids for Christmas! Lord bless us all start in Surulere tonight!

“All in Morayo’s name! The love of my life! ❤️❤️🕊️,” the singer wrote.

Wizkid’s mum was buried on October 13 in Lagos. The burial was the talk of the town as music stars, actors, and many in the entertainment industry made appearances at the reception.

Born on July 26, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. His father married three wives.

Wizkid’s mother was a familiar sight at most of his concerts and events.

She was born on July 14, 1957 and is survived by her husband, M.O Balogun, and four children, namely Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid) and many grandchildren.
