Emeka Chochoo, former manager of ailing actor Mr Ibu, has revealed why the actor’s sons Daniel and Val and his adopted daughter Jasmine were invited by the police.

Mr Chochoo revealed this to Punch on Thursday, hours after actress Doris Ogala announced that the trio are currently being detained at the Alagbon Police Station in Lagos after Ibu’s wife Stella Maris Okafor allegedly ordered their arrest.

Doris claimed Stella alleged that Jasmine moved 300 million naira donated for the actor’s surgery from the account.

Doris, however, said that an investigation into the matter revealed that the money contributed is not up to 300 million.

She wrote: “Jasmine and Ibu’s sons arrested at Alagbon police station, they are detained there.

“Ibu’s wife alleged that Jasmine moved 300 million out of the account. Ibu’s wife allegedly wanted them to buy her a new house from the money contributed so far for Ibu’s treatment, that’s why she arrested Jasmine but the investigation states that the money contributed is not even up to 300 million. Na was o.”

But in a chat telephone conversation with Punch, Emeka said they were invited by the police for questioning over Mr Ibu’s account.

“Yes, they were all invited by the police. I won’t call it arrest, the police invited them over Mr Ibu’s account. However, Val is left out as he knows nothing about what’s been happening. He just returned to the country.

“I have not been able to reach any of them,” Chochoo said.

Mr Ibu’s health struggles made the news in October when a video of the actor soliciting for help was released on his official page.

The movie star celebrated his 63rd birthday in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos on Tuesday, October 17.

He revealed in a video posted on Instagram on a Wednesday that he needed financial support so his leg would not be amputated.

His leg was, however, cut off in November.
