Actress Doris Ogala has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 election in Abia State.

A video circulating on social media on Saturday showed the AAC governorship primary returning officer declaring her winner of the party’s primary election.

Following her emergence, Doris outlined her plans for the state, saying her administration would focus on the welfare of the people, economic growth and job creation.

She also promised improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, transparency, accountability and good governance.

Her emergence comes months after she publicly declared interest in the governorship race under the AAC platform.

The actress, who hails from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, is among the early candidates to secure a party ticket ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Doris is expected to face incumbent governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party, who is widely expected to seek a second term. Other names linked with the race include Eric Opah of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kelechi Anosike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The AAC is led nationally by former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and is seeking to strengthen its presence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
