Socialite Farida Abdulkabir has said she was driven by frustration in her attempt to take her own life.

Abdulkabir was rescued on Thursday evening as she was about to jump into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The businesswoman alighted from her black sport utility vehicle and attempted to plunge into the lagoon before she was stopped.

Abdulkabir, owner of House of Phreedah, said in a viral voice note on social media that her N100 million marriage with another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, crashed after two months.

She said that after Okulaja walked out of the matrimonial home, she had several suicide attempts.

Abdulkabir said, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.

“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.”

Meanwhile, Abdulkabir and her estranged husband engaged in altercations, revealing shocking family secrets on social media, and attacking each other.

Abdulkabir owns a beauty lounge and spa located at Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos.
