Why I hate being famous – Fela’s daughter

Motunrayo Anikulapo-Kuti, daughter of Afrobeat star Fela, has said she hates being famous because she loves her private life.

Motunrayo revealed this in an Instagram post in the early hours of Friday while reacting to a rumour that rapper Oladips who was announced dead on Tuesday is still alive.

The rumour started circulating after Olaidps’ management released his album barely two days after his death was announced.

The rapper’s friend and colleague Qdot also claimed that he is still alive. He shared a picture of the rapper on Instagram with the caption: “My gee is still alive.”

Reacting to the rumour, Motunrayo who revealed she was once close to Oladips said she cried bitterly after news about his death broke. She added that she hates being famous because she loves her private life.

“So una dey go this extent just to make money and be famous?? Tueh To think say I shed my precious tears. Crazy humans. I must explain why this thing this guy do pain me tomorrow, I still dey think am but I go explain make e no be like I dey chase clout with him name. I hate to be famous cos I love my small private life,” she wrote.

Like her siblings, Motunrayo is an entertainer. She is the CEO of Ifeniomous Entertainment, a record label that she named after her daughter.

Her mother, Damiregba, was one of the 27 women who got married to Fela in 1978.
