Actress Kate Henshaw has spoken about her long standing friendship with fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji, saying they gradually drifted apart and she does not know what led to the change.
Speaking on an episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, Kate said they were once close and attended events together before the relationship changed.
“We grew apart. We were close and we used to go to events together and then there was that gap…I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what came over her but hey, I moved on,” she said.
She added that people come into one’s life for different reasons and seasons.
“I say this with hindsight: People are in your life for different reasons and seasons,” she said.
“Some are roots, some are branches, some are leafs. That’s how it is through life. Roots would always be roots.”
Kate had previously spoken about Genevieve in 2023, noting that while they had no major issues, the actress sometimes withdraws from people.
“Genevieve, we have had our issues but not big issues you know,” she said.
“I have loved her. You know sometimes she pulls away. She pulls away from everybody and you’re like, ‘Am I smelling?’”.
In January 2022, Genevieve unfollowed everyone on Instagram and deleted all her posts, which sparked public discussion online.
At the time, there were widespread rumours about her wellbeing. In March 2022, the actress later shared a message about mental health, urging kindness and understanding as people deal with personal challenges.
Genevieve, known for her work in films such as Lionheart, has maintained a largely private life in recent years, with only limited public appearances.
