Villagers now scared of foreign-based Nigerians – Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye has made a joke of the apprehension gripping the country over the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Kogi West lawmaker wrote on Twitter late Tuesday that the ‘new Nigerian order’ was one that made rural dwellers fear to come close to those in the diaspora on their return home.

“The New Nigerian Order,” said Melaye, “People who live abroad used to be scared of villagers when they return home…but now, villagers are scared of them!!!”

Last week, Melaye donated face masks, hand sanitisers and some other items to Kogi West residents.

Nigeria currently has 139 cases of the coronavirus, nine persons have been discharged while two deaths have been recorded.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said it is looking at testing up to 1500 persons in two weeks.
