Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has advised President Bola Tinubu to issue an executive order halting travels abroad for all officials in the Federal Government for one year unless it is a matter of national interest.

Mr Murray-Bruce stated this in an Instagram post on Monday.

“President Bola Tinubu should issue an executive order to halt all international travel for one year for everyone in the federal government unless he grants special approval for matters critical to national interest. This rule would not apply to the External Affairs, Finance, and National Security,” he wrote.

The former Bayelsa East lawmaker said the president should also mandate all officials of the Federal Government to fly Nigerian airlines when international travel is approved.

“When international travel is authorised, officials must fly with Nigerian airlines unless there’s no available service on that route. This directive should apply to the entire Federal Cabinet, all heads of agencies, and all civil servants. All international meetings should be conducted over Zoom,” Murray-Bruce added.

This comes as Nigeria battles worsening economic crisis which has raised tension among the populace.
