President Bola Tinubu on Thursday congratulated Tariye Gbadegesin, a Nigerian-US national, on her appointment as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the first African to hold the position.
Gbadegesin, who is currently the chief executive of ARM Harith Infrastructure Investments, a pan-African infrastructure fund, will begin her role in March 2024.
Congratulating her on the sidelines of COP28 summit in Dubai, UAE, Tinubu said it was a proud moment also for Nigeria.
“As the world converges for #COP28, I am immensely proud to congratulate Tariye Gbadegesin on her landmark appointment as CEO of the Climate Investment Funds,” the president wrote on social media.

“Tariye’s appointment is not just a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Nigeria.
“Her wealth of experience in climate finance and sustainable infrastructure places her at the forefront of the global fight against climate change.”
Tinubu noted that Nigeria stands firmly behind her in her new role.
“I am confident that her contributions will leave an indelible mark in the global effort to combat climate change as we move towards a greener, more sustainable future. Congratulations, Tariye!” he added.
Gbadegesin, who has an MBA from Harvard Business School, is also a non-executive director at Guinness Nigeria Plc.
