Tinubu’s aide, Muri-Okunola, sworn in as Lagos head of service

Former Lagos State Governor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, was at the swearing-in ceremony of Hakeem Muri-Okunola as the 21st Head of Service (HOS) of the state.

Mr Muri-Okunola was sworn in on Monday by the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

In 2003, Muri-Okunola became the personal assistant to the then governor Tinubu; while in 2005, he became the Executive Secretary to the Governor on Land Use and Allocation Committee.

In 2011, when he was just 39 years old, Muri-Okunola became permanent secretary in the same land ministry, and was until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

Ambode also swore in six new permanent secretaries which included Adekunle Gold’s father, Kosoko Adeyemi.

The other five are Goncalves Fausat, Balogun Bolajoko, Adeniji Olufemi, Adelaja Omobolanle, and Lawal Temidayo.

Ambode charged the new head of service to inject fresh ideas, vibrancy and new energy that will take the public service to new heights and make Lagos a globally recognized City-State with a commitment to efficiency, effectiveness, innovation and creativity in service delivery.

“I have no doubt in my mind that under your leadership, Lagos State Public Service will achieve great strides and record outstanding achievements as a role model for other public service institutions in Africa,” Ambode said.

While lauding Tinubu for laying a solid foundation for the transformation of the State civil service, Ambode also commended the immediate past Head of Service, Folashade Adesoye for serving meritoriously and her work in strengthening the public service.

Muri-Okunola thanked Ambode for the confidence and trust reposed in him, assuring that the public service under him, would improve on all well-known traditions for speedy, efficient and effective implementation of government policies and initiatives.
