Tinubu visits Owo over church attack, donates N75m

Presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu on Monday visited Owo town in Ondo State to see relatives of persons killed by gunmen on Sunday.

More than 30 people are believed to have been killed in the attack on St Francis Catholic Church. The police were yet to release the casualty figure as of press time.

Tinubu also visited the church and the palace of Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, to commiserate with him over the incident. The palace is a few kilometres from the church.

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu announced that Tinubu donated the sum of N75 million over the attack. He made the announcement at the palace of Oba Ogunoye, thanking the APC leader for the gesture.

According to the governor, N50 million will go to victims of the attack and N25 million to the Catholic Diocese of Ondo.

Tinubu tasked the government at all levels to ensure the protection of lives and property.

He prayed to God to console the families of the deceased and grant the community and the state government the fortitude to bear the loss.
