Nigerian musicians take on different roles in their music videos, but only a few of them have had the opportunity to star in a feature movie.
Below are 10 Nigerian artistes that have added acting to their resume.
- Davido
Pop artiste, Davido, made his acting debut in the Nollywood movie titled John Zerebe in 2015. The flick also stars Gloria Young, Ikey Ojeogwu, Kanfui Danku, Emma Blaq and Mimi Orjiekwe.
- Ice Prince
Chocolate City act, Ice Prince, explored his talents in acting when he featured in the 2013 film Heart of Gold. The rapper worked alongside Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, Eddie Watson and Francis Odega. He also starred in an episode of the MTV series, Shuga.
- Cynthia Morgan
Controversial singer, Cynthia Morgan, made her acting debut in the movie The Wrong Number. Directed by Saint Joseph Ovenseh, the movie also stars Ruth Kadiri and Daniel Lloyd among others.
- Sean Tizzle
‘Perfect Gentleman’ singer, Sean Tizzle, surprised everyone when he was photographed on set of Iyabo Ojo’s movie, Astray (Isina). He acted alongside A-list actors like Muyiwa Ademola, Odunlade Adekola, Fadekemi Momoh and Ayo Adesanya.
- Ikechukwu
Former Storm Records act, Ikechukwu Onunaku, after his training at a film school decided to go into acting and movie production. The World Famous Academy boss took a role alongside stars like Kenneth Okolie, Gbenro and Osas Ajibade, Gideon Okeke and Shaffy Bello in the Nollywood movie titled Gbomo Gbomo Express.
- Tiwa Savage
Like Ice Prince, Mavin’s leading lady, Tiwa Savage, also featured in the MTV series, Shuga, but instead of showing as a guest act on the popular series, the songstress featured in a whole season. The new mom played the role of Sade, Badoo Tree Nightclub owner and guardian to an HIV patient.
- Iyanya
Triple MG boss, Iyanya, set out to try something new when he starred in Superstar alongside Bryan Okwara, Jide Kosoko, Toyin Aimakhu and Rachel Oniga.
- Omawumi
Omawumi’s Nollywood debut was in 2013 when she starred in the Yvonne Nelson produced movie, Heart of Gold alongside Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, Eddie Watson and Francis Odega. The songbird also appeared in the dance themed movie, Make a Move in 2014.
- 2face Idibia
Legendary 2face Idibia was part of the all-star cast in the dance themed musical-movie, Make a Move. Produced by budding actress and AMVCA winner, Ivie Okujaye, the movie also starred Majid Michel, Beverly Naya, Wale Adebayo and Tina Mba.
- Falz
‘Ello Bae’ singer, Falz, made his Nollywood debut in the movie A Couple of Days where he starred with Nollywood stars like Adesua Etomi, Lilian Esoro and Kiki Omeili. Femi Falana’s son further ensured his stance in acting featuring as the male lead in Funke Akindele’s series, Jenifa’s Diaries.
