Tems regrets outcome of Uganda concert

Singer Tems has said she regretted the outcome of the Uganda concert which got her arrested on December 13.

The 25-year-old was arrested alongside colleague Omah Lay following their performance at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda on December 12.

Tems who had not spoken since her arrest broke silence in an official letter shared on Instagram on Thursday.

She said she was thankful for both Nigeria and Uganda government and everyone that played a part in ensuring her release.

“On Saturday, 12 December 2020, I was scheduled to perform with Omah Lay at The Big Brunch: Afrobeat edition organised by Kosana events in Kampala, Uganda.

“I am truly saddened that attendees could have possibly been exposed to Covid-19. I would have never participated had I even the slightest knowledge that the event would not meet standard operating procedures and put Uganda’s citizens at risk,” she wrote.

After their arrest, singers Olamide, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Davido, among other took to social media to call for their release.

Tems and Omah Lay were released on Tuesday.

They returned to Nigeria on Thursday.
