Surrender yourself, DSS tells Sunday Igboho after raid

The Department of State Services (DSS) says activist Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho should surrender himself to security officials following a raid on his residence on Thursday morning.

According to DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya, 13 persons were arrested with illegal arms, including seven AK-47 rifles, during the raid.

“Consequently, Adeyemo/Igboho is advised to turn himself in to the nearest security agency,” Mr Afunanya said at a press briefing on Thursday evening.

“Those cheering and eulogising him may appeal to or advise him to do the needful. He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law. Meanwhile, those arrested will be charged accordingly.”

The DSS spokesman confirmed that two of Sunday Igboho’s men were killed while an operative was injured. He said the activist escaped during the gun battle.

Afunanya said nine of Sunday Igboho’s men attacked DSS operatives when they arrived at the activist’s house in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
