Nigeria’s participation at next summer’s FIFA World Cup could suffer a major setback after factional Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Chris Giwa, took the body to Supreme Court.
The apex court will on Thursday rule on the case which has dragged for four years.
Giwa is contesting the authenticity of Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board having already lost out at both the High Court as well as the Appeal Court.
The globally acclaimed Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Zurich, Switzerland also ruled in favour of the Pinnick-led board.
However, the embattled administrator wants the Supreme Court to set aside the verdict of the lower courts.
This leaves the country susceptible to any sanction from world football’s governing body, FIFA, as long as the law court continues to interfere with football matters.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in Group D alongside Croatia, Iceland and old nemesis Argentina.
