Nigeria’s Super Eagles weren’t exactly impressive on Monday in their final pre-World Cup friendly at home.

The three-time African champions were expected to make a feast out of DR Congo in front of goal-thirsty soccer enthusiasts in Port Harcourt.

However, the visitors proved to be a tough nut to crack by Gernot Rohr’s side who only managed a share of the spoils as the game ended 1-1.

With the likes of Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Wilfred Ndidi and Odion Ighalo rested, the Franco-German gave Simeon Nwankwo, Junior Lokosa and Tyronne Ebuehi rare starts.

The Crotone forward made a good account of himself, hitting the upright during the opening stages.

Lokosa and Ebeuhi, too, didn’t disappoint delivering selection headaches to the team’s managers.

But it was reliable defender, William Troost-Ekong, who stormed forward to open the scoring in the 15th minute.

The home side would switch off for the better part of the game, giving room for DRC to equalize from the spot through Malango Ngita.

Nigeria will need to up their game before Saturday’s meeting with England.
