Steve Ayorinde celebrates Clarion Chukwurah at 59

Former commissioner for tourism, arts and culture in Lagos State Steve Ayorinde on Monday penned a note on Instagram in celebration of actress Clarion Chukwurah who turned 59.

Clarion broke into Nollywood in the 1980s, starring in multiple movies.

Celebrating the screen diva, Ayorinde prayed that her 59th birthday would snowball her to more memorable milestones.

The journalist also shared pictures of Clarion, one of which was from her attendance at the launch of his book 30: Three Decades of the New Nigerian Cinema – A Bystander’s Verdict in May.

He said, “Happy birthday to a screen amazon @clarionchukwurah. May this your last year on the fifth floor be the springboard to more memorable milestones.”

Ayorinde also shared an excerpt from his book which featured Clarion. It reads, “Her big break came through Owo Lagba (Money Power) after which she gained further prominence while featuring in Lola Fani-Kayode’s popular 1984 television soap opera, Mirror in The Sun, and later in Zeb Ejiro’s Ripples in 1989.
