Stella Oduah dumps PDP for APC amid N5bn fraud trial

Stella Oduah

Former minister of aviation Senator Stella Oduah (Anambra North) has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

APC national director of publicity Salisu Dambatta stated this in a release on Thursday.

He said Oduah was received at a brief ceremony in Abuja by the leadership of the party.

Mr Dambatta also said the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, and the APC candidate in the November 6 Anambra governorship election 2021 election, Senator Andy Uba were at the occasion.

Oduah, according to the statement, “is the latest of high-profile members of the former ruling party who joined the APC recently.”

According to the statement, Oduah said she joined the APC family as part of the process of the changing political narrative in the south-east.

The ex-minister joins the ruling party at a time she is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N5 billion fraud.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja had in July adjourned the case until October 19 for arraignment and trial. He threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against her if she failed to appear in court by the next adjourned date.
