Six pupils, three teachers, bus driver kidnapped in Ekiti

Gunmen have kidnapped six pupils, three teachers and a bus driver of a private nursery school in Emure, headquarters of Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

They were taken captive from the school bus around 5pm on Monday along Eporo-Ekiti in Emure.

This incident happened the same day gunmen shot dead two traditional rulers in Oke-Ako axis of Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti.

Reacting to the attack on the school bus, Governor Biodun Oyebanji in a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman Yinka Oyebode said efforts are ongoing to rescue the children and their teachers.

“Governor Oyebanji said security is being stepped up across the state with a view to flushing out criminal elements from their hideouts.

“While calling on the citizens to remain calm and vigilant, he urged them to cooperate with security agencies, by making available relevant information to the authorities,” the statement said.
