Shehu Sani’s wife rejects proposed plan to donate severance allowance

Senator Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central has said that his wife rejected his seemingly proposed plan to give out his severance allowance.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had on Sunday directed the management of the National Assembly to distribute his severance allowance to the families of Leah Sharibu and two aid workers killed by Boko Haram terrorists.

Mr Saraki said a trust fund should be instituted by National Assembly management for children of late Senators who may require financial assistance for more studies.

“It is my hope that this TRUST FUND should grow with more contributions from my dear colleagues, present, past and future, who may be moved to put in additional money into it,” Saraki said.

Mr Sani, however, in a tweet on Monday said he forwarded Saraki’s move to his wife.

The lawmaker said he re-sent the message to her after she initially acted like she did not read it.

In reply, Sani said his wife told him not to follow in Saraki’s footsteps.

“Yesterday, I forwarded to the Instagram Inbox of my spouse that our outgoing senate President has donated his severance package to the Leah Sharibu’s family and the IDPs, at first she pretended not to read it, after I resend she replied ‘I know you well well, make you no try am,’” Sani wrote.
