Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has risen in defence of her colleague, Toyin Aimakhu, after the latter got a lot of stick for her role in the #SaveMayowa saga.
Toyin went from hero to villain after she reacted angrily at family members of Mayowa Ahmed, a cancer patient at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), for whom she had led a fundraising campaign.
The actress was visibly upset over what she described as the victim’s family plot to scam Nigerians who had donated over N80million to help Mayowa seek treatment abroad.
A video of her quarrelling with Mayowa’s family at LUTH went viral online and she became the subject of harsh criticism by those who said her campaign for the sick lady was another photo op.
In a video message she posted on Facebook, an angry Iyabo said the action of those trying to embarrass her Aye Kaye co-star was “uncalled for and it really upset me.”
She when on to say those saying and writing bad things about her colleague who “was just trying to help that poor girl…just blocked a lot of chances for other people.”
