Papaya Ex denies allegations of assault, unpaid wages by PA’s brother

Papaya Ex

Influencer Papaya Ex has denied allegations made by the brother of her personal assistant, who accused her of assaulting him and withholding his sister’s salary for three months.

The controversy began after a videographer alleged on social media that his sister, who works as Papaya Ex’s personal assistant, had not been paid for three months. He claimed she earned a monthly salary of N120,000 and that the issue started after the influencer’s iPhone 16 Pro Max went missing at the premiere of actress Iyabo Ojo’s movie The Return of Arinzo in March.

According to him, the situation escalated when he visited Papaya Ex to plead on behalf of his sister. He alleged that the meeting ended in a confrontation during which his phone was seized.

Reacting through a conversation with her sister Yomidun, Papaya Ex dismissed the allegations as false and misleading.

She maintained that her staff are paid through bank transfers and said there is evidence of payments made to the assistant.

“Imagine you are collecting about 300,000 naira every month and you are saying that they are paying you N120K, inside it is feeding, transportation, not to go home, why are you lying?

“There is a statement of account there, everybody knows, everybody that paid me knows that they paid in Sumunachi’s account, and everyone that gets money from me knows they get an alert from Munachi, Munachi literally pays all of us because that is what I do for every one of my PAs.

“How many people can pay their PA the sum of 300k? What kind of work am I even doing? Should I be paying her one million naira every month because she is dressing me up? Please let me know if she is my executive assistant, so are you people seriously telling me that 300k is too small for a personal assistant (PA)every month with free accommodation? How much are they even paying workers working with the government?

“If you know you don’t want my 300k, tell me and be going, I want you and your brother to leave the house tomorrow. Ah Ah, I don’t understand, you misplaced iPhone 16 Prom Max, you stole iPhone 17 Pro Max, you stole 2million, then you still stole 200k for your brother, and you are telling me that seizing your phone is making yourlife pause,” she said.

Papaya Ex also alleged that the personal assistant and her brother had misrepresented events surrounding the missing phone and other items. She said any disciplinary measures taken were linked to misconduct and added that accommodation and other benefits were provided for members of her staff.

Yomidun, speaking on her behalf, further suggested that the disappearance of the phone might not have been accidental.

The dispute comes months after Papaya Ex publicly appealed for help in recovering an iPhone 16 Pro Max she said went missing at actress Iyabo Ojo’s The Return of Arinzo premiere. At the time, she offered a reward of N700,000 for the device, stating that it contained important contacts, documents and work related materials. She also disclosed that the phone had been in the care of her personal assistant when it disappeared.
