Police take over Edo assembly

Police at Edo assembly

The police have taken control of Edo House of Assembly complex in Benin City.

The move, it was gathered, was to prevent alleged planned attack on the facility.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Ayoola Ajala led the operation on Thursday.

This comes after the deputy speaker of the house Yekini Idiaye was impeached on Wednesday.

Idiaye who represents Akoko-Edo Constituency I in the assembly had days earlier expressed support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
