Police apologise to Clark over raid of Abuja residence

Edwin Clark

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, on Tuesday sent a delegation led by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Habila Joshak, to apologise to Chief Edwin Clark over the unauthorised raid of his Abuja residence by four policemen.

Police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Four policemen allegedly acting on a tipoff raided Clark’s residence in search of weapons.

Mr Idris denies authorising the raid and has ordered the detention of the policemen and their informant, pending a full investigation.

Moshood said that the police delegation to Clark’s house comprised of the Joshak and some commissioners of police.

“The delegation was received by Chief Edwin Clark and the apology was accepted by him,” Moshood said.

He added that the IGP has also directed the immediate presentation of the informant to the media before his prosecution in the law court.
