Oyedepo insists men shouldn’t share responsibility of providing with wives

Presiding bishop of Living Faith Church International aka Winners Chapel Bishop David Oyedepo has said that men should accept their responsibilities joyfully.

Oyedepo was on Sunday quoted by his wife Faith Oyedepo as saying that men should not share their responsibilities of providing for the family with their wives or anyone else.

“To provide for your family is your duty as a man. It is your job; it is not to be shared with your wife or anybody else. It must be joyfully accepted and excitedly executed,” the cleric said, according to a tweet by his wife.

Last year, Oyedepo told his congregation that for men to win their wives’ respect they should make a budget for the smooth running of the home.

He used his family as a case study to expatiate his points. He said he didn’t go to the market to buy pairs of socks for his children when they were growing up and that his wife was taking care of their offering.

He said, “Husbands and wives wake up! I never went to the market to buy socks for my children when they were growing up. Their mother was in charge of their offering, already budgeted. My wife is a very efficient manager of those things. That is not my area.

“I need my time for everything. We have a set budget that goes for running the house. We are still in it and our house runs like a hotel. Husbands, wake up and win the respect of your spouses. They mustn’t be chasing after you for money for the food that you will eat.”
