The Twitter account of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been unsuccessfully hacked.

The suspected cyber criminals were said to have failed in the attempt to gain total control of the account on Friday.

A look at Prof. Osinbajo’s account, @ProfOsinbajo, at press time showed that all his tweets and media files had been erased.

The account which used to be verified now sits idly unverified with an N-Power retweet on August 3 the only file on his Twitter history.

The Vice President’s profile and header images have also been removed.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a tweet on Saturday confirmed the attack. He, however, said Twitter is working to forestall a reoccurrence.

“Yesterday, there were failed external attempts to gain unauthorized access to the Vice President’s Twitter Account. Since, we have been in contact with Twitter, securing the account, and forestalling a reoccurrence. The VP will continue to actively communicate with our citizens,” Mr Akande said.
