Journalists barred from Osinbajo daughter’s traditional wedding

Yemi Osinbajo daughter traditional wedding

Journalists covering the Presidential Villa were on Thursday barred from the traditional wedding of Damilola, the eldest daughter of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Oluseun Bakare, son of socialite, Bola Shagaya.

Guests at the ceremony, which attracted eminent personalities from politics, business and the academia, were also advised not to take pictures with their mobile phones.

Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, however, uploaded pictures from the ceremony to Instagram.

The decision to keep the media and others away was to avoid the kind of backlash that greeted the recent wedding of Fatima, daughter of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, and Idris, son of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.

Osinbajo, it was learnt, did not want to be accused of celebrating weeks after the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls in Yobe State.

Vanguard reports that security aides of the vice president on Wednesday sent a message to reporters informing them that they were not needed at any of the programme for the marriage ceremony.

According to the message from the security aides, the Vice President and his family had already contracted the entire publicity of the traditional wedding and the white wedding which will take place on Saturday to a private company.
