Osinbajo dissociates self from Olugbenga Olaoye over anti-Tinubu comments

Yemi Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has disowned Olugbenga Olaoye, who describes himself as co-convener of Osinbajo Think Tank, following the latter’s comments about a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu.

Referring to Tinubu, Mr Olaoye said during an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday that Nigerians do not want another sick president who would be embarking on foreign medical trips.

He said Nigeria needs a capable person like Osinbajo.

He said, “We cannot afford another sick President who will be travelling to London all the time as we currently have, we need someone who is mentally sound. The little time that Osinbajo spent leading FEC was different. Things were moving.”

On Wednesday, spokesman of the vice president Laolu Akande said Olaoye does not represent the office of the Vice President.

“Indeed this gentleman does not represent the VP nor the Office,” he said.

“His views are completely & totally his own. This particular opinion he has expressed on TV is deplorable and in bad taste. I am not even aware of the so-called Osinbajo Think Tank he purports to represent. Pls IGNORE.”
