Olamide

Bariga-born Olamide Adedeji, mononymously known as Olamide, has no doubt risen to prominence in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

He started out with the track, ‘Eni Duro’, from his debut album Rapsodi in 2011. From then till now, the YBNL Nation record founder has not slowed down.

Dropping one album after another – YBNL, Eyan Maywheather, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth, Street OT and a joint album with Penthauze recording artiste, Phyno titled 2 Kings – the 27-year-old has been blessed with different award nominations.

If things go his way, he will win three international awards before the year is over.

Olamide has been nominated for the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards in the Best Hip Hop category alongside fellow Nigerian rapper, Ycee, Ivorian Kiff No Beat and South Africans Ricky Rich and Emtee. The ceremony which is slated to take place on Saturday, October 22 in South Africa will feature performances from American hip hop act, Future, and many more.

He is also up for the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards in the Best African Act category. Nigerians dominate the nomination list as Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Tekno Miles, Wizkid and Mr Eazi are also up for winning the award. The event will take place on Friday, November 4, 2016 in Glasgow, a city in Scotland. The category was won last year by Fuse ODG.

Baddo, as he is also known, is not slowing down as the MTV Europe Music Awards has nominated him for yet another category, Best African Act. This category has been won twice before by D’banj and once by 2face. Wizkid and Olamide are the only Nigerians nominated in this group. The venue for the award ceremony is the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Sunday, November 6.

The video to his hit song ‘Owo Blow’ is currently receiving lots of thumbs up from fans and critics alike. In the video, he cements his reputation as one of the most important rap artistes in the music industry.

Not one to shy away from controversy, Olamide is rocking a very daring look. Recently, the singer/songwriter has been seen with a blonde hairstyle.

The public became aware of the new look when he visited Toronto, Canada for a live performance which took place on September 14.

Expectedly, fans are thrilled and approve of the change in his appearance.
