Obaseki, deputy-elect visit Atiku in Abuja

Godwin Obaseki

Edo State Governor-elect Godwin Obaseki and his deputy-elect Philip Shuaibu on Monday paid a visit to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Abuja.

Mr Obaseki wore a cap which read ‘Thank You’ to show appreciation for the role played by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in ensuring he gets a second term.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the PDP in 2019, only recently returned to the country for his son’s wedding after a nine-month visit to Dubai.

He tweeted on Tuesday about the visit, saying: “Yesterday, at my residence in Abuja, I played host to @GovernorObaseki and Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who were recently re-elected for a second term in Edo State.”

Obaseki was forced to seek shelter in the PDP after being denied a second term by the All Progressives Congress (APC) which at the time had Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman.

The governor-elect and his deputy have been meeting PDP leaders to express appreciation for their victory at the polls.
