A nurse in the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Zamfara State has died after slumping while discharging her duty.

Spokesman of the hospital Auwal Usman confirmed the incident to Tribune on Wednesday.

Asma’u Bungudu, he said, was at her duty post and had checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients before she complained about a cardiac issue to a doctor.

She was said to have arrived at the hospital early Wednesday looking hale and hearty but was confirmed dead a few hours after she resumed duty.

Speaking further, the hospital spokesman said that after her complaint, she immediately slumped and doctors rushed to save her.

“The medical doctors tried all they could to save her life but they couldn’t as she died instantly,” he added.

According to Usman, the management team of the hospital led by the Medical Director Dr Usman Shanawa has handed over the corpse to the relatives of the deceased.

When contacted, a family member of the late nurse confirmed that Asmau left home hale and hearty on Wednesday morning and went to the hospital where she works as a nurse without any health complaints.

“She was buried today by 5 pm at Malan Abdurrahaman House, Magama Area, Bungudu according to Islamic injunction,” the relative added.
