Court remands man for allegedly killing 65-year-old woman

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of  29-year-old Ojo Yemi for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman, Josephine Ajayi.

The defendant, docked for murder, was alleged to have killed the woman and threw her body into the river.

Yemi whose address was not provided is being tried for murder.

The prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 9 in Ado-Ekiti.

Okunade alleged that Ajayi’s body was later found by the riverside.

He said the offence contravened Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the accused in prison, pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The plea of the accused was not taken, while Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye adjourned the case until October 8 for a mention.
