Nigerians on Twitter have been tricked by a hoax that American rapper and business mogul Jay Z has featured Nigerian artistes Femi Kuti and Olamide on his new album titled Ascension.

Jay Z on Thursday hit the top of Twitter trends in Nigeria following news he would be featuring the Nigerians and two other African rappers on a new album.

The two other Africans also included in the prank are South African rapper Nasty C and Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.

Further spreading the prank, Nasty C posted a cover art of the said album on his Instagram page.

While many Twitter users are aware that the whole collaboration story was an April Fool hoax, many others fell for it including media firms like Punch and Leadership newspapers. They, however, pulled back the story afterwards.

Despite the hoax, many look forward to the Songwriters Hall of Famer following in the pathway of his wife and singer Beyonce in collaborating with African artistes on his future projects.
